Extremely rare fifth issue of the series, only 7 issues were published in total (numbered up to issue 10, although issues 8 and 9 were not published). - With Asger Jorn's text "Sozialistische Heringe, realistische Ölfarben und Volkskunst" and an original lithograph by Alechinsky also bound in. - The German edition of Cobra no. 5 was printed in very small numbers and was banned in Germany until the 1950s. The issue was finally published in France, Belgium and the Netherlands in 1951 with an additional insert sheet with explanatory text and a lithograph by Alechinsky, which had not appeared in the original number. - The imprint with handwritten corrected address of the "German editor and distributor for Germany" Karl-Otto Götz, who no longer lived in Königsförde near Hameln, but in Frankfurt am Main. - Staple stitching somewhat rusty, otherwise very good inside.

Illustrated original half cloth binding (stained, edges and spine rubbed). Rare single edition. - With a preface by R.C. Hurley dated 1.5.1898. Inside rear pastedown with a table of contents, the photographs with printed legends. - Kiautschou (Kiao-'t'schau) was an area in the south of the Shandong Peninsula on the Chinese east coast that was forcibly leased to the German Empire by the Chinese Empire in 1898. The reason for acquiring the colony was the desire for a naval base for the Imperial Navy in East Asia. During the First World War, Kiautschou came under the administration of the Japanese Empire after the siege of Tsingtau in November 1914. - Some brown spotting throughout, endpapers stronger, front endpaper with collector's stamp. Religious manuscript from the Maghreb, compilation of Suras from the Koran Black ink, polychrome pigments on paper, embossed and gilded red leather binding Maghreb, 19th century 27 x 22 x 4.3 cm In black Magribi script enhanced with polychrome, the text is spread over 17 lines in colored framing fillets, with the titles of the suras in decorated cartouches. It features numerous marginal medallions. It opens onto a large bifolio (probably later) adorned with decorative polychrome compositions around a radiating star. The last pages of the manuscript also feature geometric and floral compositions, probably original.

Prée, Charles. Watercolor of love. Six original watercolors by Charles Prée after poems by Catullus, Goethe, Baudelaire, Verlaine, Rimbaud. With 6 (including front cover) signed original watercolors by Ch. Prée. Germany, circa 1950. title page and 5 double leaves with 5 poems and 5 watercolors. 34 x 31 cm. Original canvas portfolio with mounted signed original watercolor on front cover (slightly rubbed and stained). No. 1 of 50 numbered copies, title signed by the artist. - Elaborately designed portfolio in a very small edition. Each of the six poems was printed in a different font. The poem can be found on the front of each double sheet and the corresponding watercolor drawing on the inside right. The skilful drawings are, without being explicit, clearly erotic and, thanks to the fragrant coloring in bright colors, decidedly sensual. The artist's name "Charles Prée" could also be a pseudonym, as it cannot be found in encyclopaedias. This rare work is not bibliographically traceable for us, but the elaborate design indicates an origin from a 'good family'. - Inside cover slightly brownstained, title somewhat browned, last page slightly light-stained. Missal - Double leaf from a late Gothic missal. Latin manuscript on vellum, written on both sides in textura. With a 5-line floral initial in gold and colors as well as headings, staves, smaller initials and word separators in red and blue. Germany, 2nd half of the 15th century. Sheet size: approx. 29.5 x 20 cm (width when opened 40 cm), text area: 22.5 x 15.5 cm. Mounted on passepartout card with lateral fold. From the Easter Vigil, under unusually blank staves the text for the consecration of water on the eve of the Epiphany: "(Sit haec sancta, et innocens) creatura, libera ab omnia impugnatoris incursu et totius nequitie purgata discessu ...". The large initial introduces the introit "In die paschale". - Formerly used as a book jacket, stitching holes in the centerfold, two small triangular cut-outs at the head, dusty and with traces of glue, the outer side decorated with the initial rubbed and browned (stave lines almost erased), with inserted cover title "Holtzungs Protocol" and several ink splashes.

Collection of Koranic prayers by Abdolhamid al-Sharif Ink, polychrome pigments and gold on paper, bound in stamped brown leather Iran, 1262 AH / 1846 AD 20.5 x 13.7 cm This illuminated manuscript, written in fine black and red naskh calligraphy with 11 lines per page and framed in gold, is a compilation of Qur'anic prayers. The manuscript opens with a mandorla and a poetic text, followed by the opening bifolio, richly illuminated with a Sarlow frontispiece featuring mandorla motifs with abundant floral decoration, as well as margins with gilded vegetal decoration and polychrome touches.
