Jeanne PIFFARD (1892-1971). First step of the lamb. Bronze patina signed on the terrace. Circa 1937. Height 23 cm - Width 29 cm Note: Enrolled at the Académie Julian, her classes with animal sculptor Edouard Navellier had a decisive influence on her first animal subjects, horses and donkeys. In the 1920s and 1930s, she took part in a number of major salons, including the Salon des Artistes Français in 1924. She subsequently won the First Grand Prize at the 1937 Universal Exhibition with the monumental Porte d'honneur for the Centre rural in collaboration with Jean Dunant. She took part in the "Artists of this Time" exhibition at the Petit Palais in 1938 and her work, following that of Pompon and Albéric Collin, was presented at the Venice Biennale in 1940.

« N°3 », bronze par Yan Verdier - Yan VERDIER (born 1972) Number 2/8 Cast at Blanchet Landowski, the famous foundry used by Buffet, César, Ustinov... A book accompanies the bronze, explaining its genesis and the various stages of production. 29 x 19 cm Yan Verdier developed a passion for cars at an early age. His teenage encounter with the Novo family, Bugatti specialists, was decisive. Summer and winter alike, he spends most of his free time assisting Henri and listening to his stories of racing in the 1930s. In 2002, he published "Une vie pour BUGATTI", the biography of Henri NOVO, witness to a bygone era. As a bronze artist, he expresses himself through a variety of techniques. Excellent cast with even patina. Levasseur depicts a young woman, lightly clothed, sitting on a sphinx in side profile. The stylistic context can be placed in relation to the widespread Egyptomania and the cult of the Orient that prevailed in numerous European countries around the turn of the century and in Art Nouveau, influencing ideas of beauty and femininity. The French sculptor was extremely successful as a sculptor with his bronze and stone sculptures at the turn of the century and exhibited regularly at salons and exhibitions throughout the country. Bronze relief with green patina. Signed (incised) and dated. - Slightly dusted in deepenings, also on the verso. Slightly rubbed in places. Very good overall. Excellent cast with homogenous patina. - Levasseur depicts a young woman, lossely clothed, sitting on a sphinx in side profile. The stylistic context can be related to the widespread Egyptomania and the cult of the Orient that prevailed in numerous European countries around the Art Nouveau and turn of the century and also influenced ideas of beauty and femininity. The French sculptor was very successful as a sculptor with his bronze and stone sculptures and regularly exhibited at salons and exhibitions throughout the country.

Rare, finely carved chryselephantine version of the extremely graceful Art Nouveau figure created in 1897, which is particularly known for its form in Meissen porcelain. Kurt Lehmann (1905 Koblenz - 2000 Hanover) "Fat woman (female figure, small version)". Original title Bronze, dark brown patina, 1953, ligature monogr. "KL"; foundry mark "GUSS BARTH BERLIN". Lifetime cast in a small edition before 1970. The depiction of the block-like stylized female nude with raised arms is characterized by the powerful tension that is also characteristic of Aristide Maillol and Henry Moore. Lehmann, who is one of the most important German sculptors working in the figurative style of modernism, studied at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Kassel from 1924 to 1929. During a study trip to France, he visited Maillol himself. In 1930/31, Lehmann had a scholarship at the Villa Massimo in Rome; based in Berlin from 1931-1934, he developed friendships with his fellow sculptors Gerhard Marcks and Gustav Seitz.
