Chests

Signed Louis XV commode by Pierre Roussel rosewood and kingwood, veneered and inlaid with various, partially dyed precious woods. Curved body on three sides, flanked by wide corner pilaster strips, merging into tapered, flared legs. Two wide drawers sans traverse in the articulated front. Wide framed, mirrored veneer panels with generous inlays of rose petals with parrots, bordered by gilt bronze rocailles in relief. Stamp sign. P. Roussel (will be master 1745) and Paris jury stamp JME. Corresponding cover plate of rosé-colored, cream-grained marble. H. 86 cm. 130 cm x 63 cm. Pierre Roussel (1723 - 1782) became a master in 1745, held all the important offices of his guild from 1762 and was one of the best and most productive Parisian cabinetmakers. His luxury furniture influenced the taste of Louis XV and Louis XVI. Roussel produced furniture for the French royal court, including the Palais Bourbon, Chantilly Palace and Versailles Palace. Cf. KOREA - 20th century Two stackable rectangular wooden chests opening with four drawers and two leaves, brass fittings, butterfly-shaped hinges and central part. in the shape of butterflies. Dimensions of each chest: 64.5 x 81 x 44 cm

Moulded mahogany veneered storage unit, opening in front with two leaves revealing twelve drawers arranged in six rows, it rests on a plinth hemmed with gadroons in the top rail. Small jumping chest of drawers in mahogany veneer and rosewood inlaid with leaves in filleted frames, opens to the front with two drawers and is topped with a breche marble finish. It stands on four tapered legs with flanks and a round projecting edge. Mid-twentieth century (missing veneer, wear and tear) Height : 72.5 cm - Width : 66 cm - Depth : 33 cm

Rosewood veneered storage cabinet with leaf marquetry in filleted frames, opening at the top with two sliding panels and at the bottom with three drawers, the latter adorned with a marquetry design of flowering and enrubanné branches. It stands on four arched legs and is topped with green-veined white marble. Decorated with bronzes such as falls, sabots, escutcheons and apron.
