A drawing of a similar vase from the Esmerian bequest from the Saxe-Teschen collection is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Traditionally, this mounting was found on porcelain made by the Sèvres factory, which supplied unmounted vases inspired by the Far East to "merciers" such as Dulac, Grouel and Poirier, who in turn ordered the gilded bronze mounts.
Dulac's name appears in the registers of the Manufacture de Sèvres, and he acquired a large number of green, blue and eggplant porcelain vases. A pair almost identical to our vases was sold in Paris, study Picard, November 29, 1992, lot 55.
These vases are also close to a pair from the Rothschild collection at Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire.
Again, these mounts are close to a green vase from the former collection of Baron A. de Gunzburg (Sotheby's, Paris, September 14, 2017, lot 85). Or: Christie's New York, October 21, 1997, lot 277; Sotheby's May 9 and 11, 2000, lot 48, from the Sir John Gooch collection at Benacre Hall, Suffolk, or the pair from the Lily and Edmond Safra collection, Sotheby's, New York, October 18, 2011, lot 973.
