Adolf Fischer-Gurig, Runkelstein Castle (South Tyrol). 1890. Adolf Fischer-Gurig1860 Obergurig/Bautzen - 1918 Dresden Oil on canvas, completely mounted on strong cardboard. Signed "Fischer-Gurig" on the lower right and dated "4. Oct. 90" and titled on the left. Framed in a profiled gold-coloured wooden moulding. Provenance: Collection Prof. Dr. Fritz G. Altmann, Zittau and Hannover. Minimally soiled, slightly scratched at the lower margin mi., a tiny punctual pressure mark at the lower mi. in the area of the water. At the corners traces of tearing (inherent to the work). Measures: 49 x 38.8 cm, cardboard 50 x 40 cm, frame 58 x 48.5 cm. Adolf Fischer-Gurig 1860 Obergurig/Bautzen - 1918 Dresden 1880-84 Studies at the Dresden academy of arts, pupil of L. Pohle and V. P. Mohn. 1885-88 completed his studies in Berlin as a master pupil of Karl Ludwig. 1890-98 Fischer lived and worked in Munich. Returned to Dresden, where he lived until the end of his life. From 1902 he devoted himself mainly to motifs of East Frisia: towns, harbours, landscapes. Since 1900 the artist signed with "Fischer-Gurig".
