August Sander Philosophiestudent (Erich Sander) 1926 Gelatin silver print, printed 1990 by Gerd Sander. 25.5 x 19.3 cm. Bordered in black Indian ink and with photographer's blind stamp lower left. Signed and dated by Gerd Sander in pencil as well as edition stamp, archive number and editioned in felt-tip pen on the verso. Mounted to card, edition label and stamp, therein archive number and editioned in felt tip pen and dedicated by Gerd Sander in pencil, on the reverse of the mount. Jahrhunderts" (People of the 20th Century). Due to his activities in political resistance as a member of the Socialist Workers' Party of Germany, Erich Sander was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 1934 and died in Siegburg prison in 1944, shortly before his release.
