Édouard Marcel SANDOZ (1881-1971) Dogfish, large model Model created around 1920. Bronze with a brown-green patina. Signed E.M Sandoz on the tail and stamped C. VALSUANI CIRE PERDUE. H.33,5 cm RELATED LITERATURE : Félix Marcilhac, Édouard Marcel Sandoz: sculpteur, figuriste et animalier, 1881-1971: catalogue raisonné, Bern, Till Schaap Édition, 2014, model listed as no. 1346, and no. 1347 pp. 478-479. To our knowledge, there are only three proofs of this model made at Sandoz's request by the foundryman Claude Valsuani. Two of these prints were exhibited in Paris in 1920, one at the Société nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the second at the Société des artistes décorateurs; the third, made in 1938, was shown at the group exhibition Les animaliers at the Galerie Malesherbes.
