Large and rare duchess-shaped armchair with embossed cheeks, made of moulded and richly carved beechwood, with foliage, flowers and scrolls, the wood repainted grey. The arm brackets are clearly detached from the enveloping backrest, the seat has cushions and small curved legs. The transformation is made by sliding the seat crosspiece forward to reveal a large mobile footrest with a cane base. Mid 19th century. Upholstery and cushions covered with velvet.
