ATTRIBUÉ À MARTIN-ELOY LIGNEREUX (1751-1809) & PIERRE-PHILIPPE THOMIRE(1751-1843)

Rectangular wall console with a mirror back in mahogany veneer inlaid with fine ebony fillets. Front mounts with Egyptian busts and gilt bronze draped feet. The belt concealing a drawer, released by a pusher, is decorated with three medallions with Minerva heads, water leaves and palmettes and stars. The base is a moulded ormolu corner base. White marble top with inverted doucine. Attributed to Martin-Eloi Lignereux and Pierre Philippe Thomire for the bronzes. Empire period, circa 1804 Fire mark of Louis Philippe d'Orléans (mark of use between 1821 and 1830). Handwritten labels: "Château d'Amboise - Rez de Chaussée - Grand Salon - Console en bois d'acajou doré" (fragmentary) and "N°2 Marbre de la console d'acajou doré" (under the marble). H. 99 ; W. 156 ; D. 52 cm (Very good condition) PROVENANCE - Probably acquired around 1804 by Marie-Adélaïde, duchess of Orleans (1753-1821) from Martin-Eloy Lignereux. - Louis-Philippe d'Orléans (future king of the French), installed in the grand salon on the ground floor of the château d'Amboise.
