JAPON PÉRIODE MEIJI, VERS 1900

Three oval-shaped Satsuma ceramic plates, carved in high relief and polychrome enamelled, representing respectively a rakan riding a turtle on the waves, the goddess Benten to whom a disciple offers peaches, the sennin Tekkai. In wooden frames. Attributed to Eizan Kawamoto. Dim. 40 x 27 cm (Small accident broken-glued to the bottom corner of the second one) These plates are characteristic of the work of Eizan KAWAMOTO, Kyoto, who presented ceramics at international exhibitions, such as the Louisiana Purchase Exhibition in St. Louis in 1904. These plates could have been presented at the 1900 World's Fair in Paris.
