A small black lacquer Hokkai-bako, or box for playing with shells, also known as a picnic box, cylindrical in shape with a ringed wall on four feet, decorated in gold hiramaki-e with the Tokugawa Mon on the lid and the rim, the feet and the edge of the lid enhanced with chased fittings.
