Hyacinthe RIGAUD (Perpignan 1659-Paris 1743) Portrait formerly known as the Count of Medavy Canvas. Annotated lower left: Cte de MEDAVY MARÉCHAL DE FRANCE 1651. Old restorations. Accidents to the frame. 130 x 97 cm The annotation proposing to identify the model to Jacques Léonor Rouxel de Grancey (1655-1725), count of Médavy, Knight of the Order of the Holy Spirit in 1711 and Marshal of France of France in 1724, cannot be retained, the brown baton and not fleurdelysé is not that of a marshal of France The date of 1651 is not that of his birth. The consultation of the artist's book of reason did not allow us to to give him his real name.
