1959 Austin-Healey 3000 MKI BN7

The most desirable Big Healey Known history Ready to hit the road French historic registration title Chassis n° HBN7/9717 The Austin-Healey 3000 is a sporty roadster launched in 1959 to replace the 100/6 in the range. This model earned the nickname «Big», referring to its large 3-liter engine with twin SU carburetors. Power output was now 124 hp, and the car finally had disc brakes in the front. The Mark 1 was produced from 1959 to 1961 in two distinct versions: the BT7, (translate 2+2) will be produced in more than 10,000 units, and the BN7, this time a strict 2-seater, in less than 3,000 units. The Austin-Healey 3000 is also known worldwide for its success in competition, with the participation of the factory team in the Rallye des Alpes, and in the demanding Liège-Rome-Liège. The car illustrated here is a BN7 version with a clear history. Sold new in Vermont, USA, it reappeared in the mid-1980s, in the same state, to a young man who received the car as a gift from his father. It had already been restored once, when Mr. Piscopo, already a collector of several Healey cars, decided to buy it. He used it for more than ten years before completely rebuilding the engine. He then sold it to one of his friends, before buying it back! In 2010, this American collector decided to ship his BN7 to Europe, for an auction during which the current owner bought it. The car is now in a very good working condition. Its owner has given it a meticulous maintenance. As soon as it was purchased, the brakes were rebuilt, and many works were done to improve reliability. During our test drive, the car ran very well. The engine and brake settings are very good and are a testament to the quality of the various revisions. The car is also equipped with an additional electric fan, and the starter was changed at the end of last year. The paint is from a previous owner, but part of the front end has been touched up. Its black leather interior is also slightly patinated, but the whole shows no tears. The red synthetic tonneau cover fits perfectly but may need some restoration. Important question for an English car... in case of rain, can we protect ourselves ? The answer is yes, the car is equipped with its soft top and side-screens! The owner, passionate and meticulous, has used this Big Healey for many purposes: frequently for short trips, but also for rallies in Scotland and Spain. In short, here is the opportunity to acquire a very desirable Austin-Healey 3000 Mk1 BN7 ready to hit the road!
