No reserve Nice patina Interesting torpedo version Rare on the market No registration title Chassis n° 5241627 At the end of the World War I, the time is ripe for reconstruction and the demand for efficient mobility solutions is strong. The Italian car manufacturer already has the 501 available, but engineers are working on a more efficient vehicle. The 505 is based on a ladder chassis and offers larger exterior dimensions, a longer wheelbase and a more rounded hood. Fiat then sold the vehicle as a bare chassis, or as convertible, roadster and 4-door sedan versions. For convertible and roadster versions, the manufacturer has placed the spare wheels outside the bodywork, behind the wings. The interior features a flat dashboard with meters placed in the center. The steering wheel is located on the right side of the car. Depending on the version, there were one or two doors for the front passengers, who were seated on a bench seat. A second bench seat was placed in the back for two other occupants. Fiat installed the same suspension system as on the 501 with two rigid axles and leaf springs. But it upgraded the vehicle with an electric starter, four-wheel brakes and a four-speed manual transmission. Under the hood, the 505 was equipped with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with side valves that provided more torque than the 501. As a result, the chassis was used as a platform for utility vehicles. The 505 was produced from 1919 to 1925 before giving way to the 507. The car we present is a Fiat 505 Torpedo built in 1924. It has benefited from a complete restoration many years ago and is today in a good general condition. The beautiful patina of the whole car gives it a certain charm. The bodywork has a green color with reminders of this color on the chassis, the rims and the brake drums. Inside the car, the leather upholstery is black with matching carpets. The wooden dashboard has an elegant light-colored border that is also found on the door woodwork. The various meters are present and in good condition. Under the hood, we find the 3.0-liter tipo 105 4-cylinder engine that will need to be restarted. The hood of our torpedo is also in a satisfactory condition, and we note the presence of contemporary side-screens to protect from bad weather. Our beautiful example is now presented for sale No reserve price, and is a great opportunity for any fan of the Turin brand.
