No reserve Pivotal model for the brand Everything of a great Rolls-Royce Very nice juice Belgian registration title Chassis n° 80A0 Engine n° G518 Society changed quite a lot after the First World War. Countries are reindustrializing. The democratization of the automobile begins. Rolls-Royce, which had been building aircraft engines since 1914, also enjoyed a great reputation in the automotive industry, thanks to its exceptional models. In 1921, the production of the very exclusive Silver Ghost was launched. As the number of vehicles on the road continued to grow, the brand thought of completing its range with a model that would take up less space in town. This led to the creation of the Twenty or 20 HP also known as the Baby Rolls-Royce, in 1922. The latest model met the brands’ high standards in terms of quality and finishing, and is adapted to urban use, while possessing the necessary qualities to accomplish long journeys. The Twenty also met the demand of customers who wanted to drive their own vehicle and no longer rely on a driver. From an aesthetic point of view, the first generations of the Twenty are recognizable by their horizontal radiator shutters and not the vertical ones, as is the tradition at Rolls-Royce. A new engine has been specially designed for this model. It is a 6-cylinder engine with a displacement of 3127cc, consisting of a single cylinder block with detachable cylinder head and a single ignition. It is also the first engine with overhead valves. Powered with such an engine and clad in a factory-recommended body, the car can reach 97 km/h. The three-speed gearbox with a lever in the center of the cabin of the first examples was replaced in 1925 by a four-speed unit with a traditional right-hand shift. The chassis was shorter and had rigid front and rear axles suspended by semi-elliptical springs. As for the braking, it is assured only on the rear wheels.   It was not until 1925 that drum brakes with mechanical servo on all four wheels appeared. The Twenty will then be equipped with hydraulic shock absorbers, first at the front, then at the rear, while the radiator flaps, horizontal until then, will become vertical on the last models. Only the chassis and the mechanics of the Twenty are manufactured by Rolls-Royce. The bodies are chosen by the owner and made by the most famous coachbuilders of the United Kingdom like Barker, Park Ward, Thrupp & Maberly, Mulliner, Hopper, Kellner and Gurney Nutting. The Twenty was produced in 2,940 examples until 1929. The example in the Anna-Lisa collection is a Mulliner bodied sedan with right-hand steering, 3-speed gearbox, rear wheel brakes and semi-elliptical suspension. The car was registered in Belgium at the end of the 1980s, before being sold at auction in 1991. It comes to us in a very nice original condition, with a dark green painted body, black roof and aluminum hood, and a very nice green velvet interior. It is complete with all its elements, including its original Rolls-Royce carburetor. The engine is not blocked, and a future restart seems easy
