1959 ALFA ROMEO BARCHETTA 1300

Aluminum bodywork Exciting witness of a bygone era High performance and proven mechanics French historic registration title Chassis n° AR146814641 Birthplace of the Dolce Vita, Italy is a country that lives by passion. Passion for the arts, passion for gastronomy, passion for sports, passion for cars... We let you complete the list! If the most beautiful cars that have trodden the roads of the world were almost all designed by an Italian workshop or designer, Pininfarina, Zagato, Bertone or Touring to name but a few, there were also independent craftsmen, working in a carrozzeria hidden in the countryside, in the depths of solitary villages capable of realizing the wildest dreams of their customers. Working by ear and touch only, they had to be able to transform a banal car into a sumptuous automobile for an ambitious young driver looking for his next steed or a rich gentleman driver wanting a unique car to escape to the countryside. The craftsmen in these shops usually used proven mechanical bases, onto which they grafted aluminum bodies, a national specialty. The most famous of them grew and were then absorbed by manufacturers or became recognized tuners, while the others survive today through the cars they offered us. The car we are presenting today started its life as an Alfa Romeo Giulietta. It will see its life turned upside down the day it will be dropped off at one of these aluminum wizards, capable of transforming a simple sedan into a barchetta worthy of the most extraordinary Italian achievements. Superb from all angles, its lines are low, taut, and perfectly proportioned, giving it an extremely sporty look. Entirely made of aluminum, its contained weight ensures a playful behavior and high performances thanks to its nice engine with double overhead camshaft fed by two Weber double body carburetors. In the cockpit we find the components that make the charm of the Milanese brand with this time a very low driving position, perfectly adapted for tall people with a fin running on the rear hood, reminding the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa of the same period. Mounted on spoked rims, the car is equipped with drum brakes on all four wheels, which is more than enough to stop the car. Sold with a 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta French historic title and several maintenance invoices, this car has just been serviced but will need four new tires.
