Description
Ceramic bowl with black figures, a drinking vessel used for banquets. The bowl is entirely glazed in black, except for a band between the handles and a line in the lower part of the bowl and the underside of the foot. The deep bowl, with a finely moulded red fillet at the junction of the foot and body and a convex lip, rests on a high stemmed foot. The ornamentation is in the miniaturist style in the decorative tradition of banded bowls, with a horse in the centre and on either side four figures with incised anatomical or clothing details painted in white and dark red. Banded cup of the group of painters called the Little Masters, perhaps the painter of the Centaur "equine lover" who "removes the palmettes from the handles "*.
