Description

Ball gown signed Worth, (illegible claw number) circa 1895, dress in polychrome silk brocaded lampas Reine des fleurs woven by the Tassinari&Chatel factory after a drawing of the original decoration of the bedroom of Madame du Barry in Versailles. The bodice is whalebone and laced in the back, with sleeves and neckline draped in bubbled tulle, extending into two crossing panels in the back. Coordinated skirt with long train, (skirt dismantled). Bibl.: to be compared with a Worth dress in the same silk declined in yellow-green and cream kept at the Musée Galliera. CH Trubert-Tollu, F.
