Description

Follet René/Original drawing illustrating Don Quixote and Sancho Panza at the gallop. Graphite, gouache and watercolor. Signed. Rare. TBE+. Quality frame included: 45 X 35 cm The Ingenious Noble Don Quixote of La Mancha is a novel written by Miguel de Cervantes and published in Madrid in 1605. Don Quixote is an important milestone in literary history and has been interpreted in many different ways: pure comedy, social satire, political analysis. It is considered one of the most important novels of world literature and the first modern novel. René Follet published in 1974 in Tintin his first realistic series "to follow", Yvan Zourine, scripted by J. Stoquart. The latter also adapts for him Homer's Iliad in comics. From 1978, René Follet animates the adventures of Steve Severin in the Dutch magazine Eppo. In the 1980s, for Spirou, he takes over the mythical series Jean Valhardi. He then began a collaboration with Editions Lefrancq where he illustrated the novels of Henri Vernes Bob Morane and J. Flanders. Scripted by Lodewijk, the adventures of Edmund Bell will give rise to a comic book of which he will draw 4 albums. His deliberately discreet career, mainly dedicated to the illustration of advertising materials, documentary works and novels, will make René Follet the most "famous unknown" of the great masters of the 9th Art. He left us in March 2020.
