École Française de la fin du XVIIIe siècle.

Portrait of Louis-Charles de France (1785-1795) known as Louis XVII. Profile in polychrome wax. Under a curved glass in a square frame in blackened wood. Slight wear. On the back five old labels including "Louis XVII", "Collection Périllieux, Louis XVII, n°4", "M. Périllieux 2324-159", etc. D. 5,3 cm. Frame: L. 9,6 cm. Provenance - Collection of Louis-Jules Périllieux (1802-1878). - Collection of his daughter Marie Périllieux (1839-1899), wife Léon Blazy, Paris. - Then by descent. Exhibition Exposition Universelle de Paris, 1878, Exposition des Portraits Nationaux, section "Portraits Nationaux du XVIIIe siècle", under n° 376 : "Louis XVII, second son of Marie-Antoinette - Medallion wax coloured, round shape ; diam. 0,055 - Author unknown (XVIIIe siècle). In bust; in profile, on the right; blond hair thrown back; black costume; embroidered ruff. To Mme Léon BLAZY, née Périllieux, in Paris." Bibliography Historical and analytical note of the paintings, sculptures, tapestries, miniatures, enamels, drawings, etc. exhibited in the galleries of the national portraits at the Palais du Trocadéro, p. 79, no. 376. History Louis-Jules Périllieux-Michelez (1802-1878), a cotton manufacturer, passed on his business to his son-in-law Léon Blazy (1830-1872) who, in association with his brother Jules, set up the Blazy Frères company. Their factory produced all types of woolen yarns and linings that customers needed for hosiery and embroidered tapestry. Their high quality products were rewarded with numerous prizes at national and international exhibitions: Gold medal in Paris in 1878, in Melbourne in 1881, in Antwerp in 1885, etc. Léon Blazy was a member of the jury in Barcelona in 1888 and in Paris the following year. He was elected to the city council at the same time as Martial Caillebotte.
