in the shape of a horseshoe set with rose-cut diamonds. Preserved in its original black leather case stamped with the dedication in gold letters: "Given by H.M. the King of Greece (Otto I) to Mr. d'Eschavannes 28 May 1853". H. 6 cm. Gross weight : 1,5 g. Provenance Joseph Louis Edouard Jouffroy d'Eschavannes (1820-1895), heraldist and genealogist, curator of national museums, he wrote a complete treatise on the science of blazon and the Universal Armorial. It is probably a gift of thanks offered by Othon I of Greece for the research work done by the French historian.
