A SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF A LUOHAN
China, around 1900. Carved seated with one leg propped up and leaning against a low table supported on a lion-head cabriole leg, wearing loose flowing robes detailed with incised decoration and holding a rosary in one hand, a document box and a vase beside him. The face with a tranquil expression, the stone of cream tones with red inclusions and revealing traces of gilt.
Condition: Good condition with minor wear. Part of the rosary missing.
