FLAMISH SCHOOL (18th century) "Wedding of Eros and Psyche"

Presiding over the ceremony Jupiter depicted with thunderbolts in his hand and the eagle symbol of divine power. To his left his wife and sister Juno queen of the gods. Her presence is never absent at births and weddings providing protection for the bride. To the right appears Neptune in the middle of the bride and groom Hymenaeus son of Venus crowned with roses and holding the torch with the divine fire. The bride Psyche shows on her knee a diamond which maintained the union between the spouses. 272 x 257 cm.... Hand-woven tapestry in wool and silk
