Like many other motorbike manufacturers, the Alcyon company started with activities related to the bicycle. Founded in 1902 by Edmond Gentil in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Alcyon started to focus on motorised two-wheelers in 1904.
To design its first machine, the French brand turned to the Swiss engine manufacturer ZL, also known as Zedel or Zürcher et Luthi. Their collaboration gives birth to a 350cc motorbike.
Very quickly, Alcyon knows a great commercial success with a range going from the small displacement to the four-stroke V-twin. On the competition side, the brand accumulates honours whether it is with its motorbikes or its bicycles which win 14 times in the Tour de France.
Over the years, Alcyon has continued to develop to the point of absorbing other brands such as Armor, Diamant, Labor, Thomann or Olympique.
