1938 DELAGE DI 12 carrosserie Citroën

Chassis number 505115 Engine number 50115 Exclusive car Pre-war at an attractive price Delage coat of arms On 10 April 1935, Louis Delage had his company bought out. It was Delahaye who took over the reins. However, at the Salon in October 1935, Delage presented the DI-12, using the name of its successful saloon car produced from 1923 to 1928. It was the replacement for the D4 and borrowed a number of parts from the Delahaye 134. The Delage DI-12 was initially bodied in sheet metal over wood by Autobineau. In 1936, for reasons of profitability, Delage decided to graft its chassis onto Citroën bodies, an assembly that was produced between October 1936 and September 1937. This Delage DI-12 was bodied as a roadster. It benefits from the Delahaye 2,150 cm3 tumbled engine, which gives the car a top speed of nearly 110 km/h with a 4-speed gearbox and independent front suspension. Our example was discovered by its current owner in the sheds of an Alsatian antique dealer in the 1980s. In good general condition, our car has been put back on the road and is running. This car is painted in an elegant blue colour with a camel interior. For comparison, the Roadster at the time was worth 43500 francs. In comparison, in 1937, a roadster 11BL was worth 30500 francs, the price difference explaining the few Delages sold. A very beautiful car produced by one of the most prestigious French car companies of the pre-war period, this Delage DI-12 is a very good opportunity to access the Delage myth for a reasonable price. There are only 3 known Traction cabriolet cars left, of which only 2 are DI-12s. After analysis of the body of the Delage DI 12, we are not able to confirm that it is an original Citroën Cabriolet body.
