1952 RENAULT 4 CV

Serial number 124161 Nice condition French registration Designed by Fernand Picard and Edmond Serre in secret during the war, the famous Renault 4cv was officially presented in October 1946 at the Paris Motor Show. It is a small car in absolute terms but its interior is spacious. The advertisinǵ of the time made this car attractive and affordable: "4 horses, 4 doors, 4 seats, 444,000 francs". Built until 1961, its production exceeded one million units. Emblematic of "France on 4 wheels", the 4cv is part of history. With a monocoque body and a rear engine, the 4CV is resolutely modern. Due to shortages and restrictions, the little city car was presented in a yellow/beige colour, the army's stock colour, which gave it the sobriquet of "clod of butter". Its characteristic curves seem to have been inspired by production on the other side of the Atlantic, a very modern decision on the part of Renault's management. In short, the 4CV is the car of the return to freedom. The Renault 4CV we are presenting to you is an R1062 version that left the factory in 1952 with an original sunroof. We find this specificity today sublimated by a nice grey paint and cream touches especially in the rims. Some of the chrome grills have unfortunately been corroded but the overall look of this little car is good. Inside, the sobriety and simplicity of the dashboard still shows us the popular side of this car. Our model has a "globe-trotter" type upholstery in terry cloth which is in good condition. Mechanically, a revision will be necessary in order to take the road, serenely rocked by the purr of the 4 cylinders.
