Its self-supporting body was exceptionally rigid and was mounted on a sub-frame as was the case with the Flaminia. The latter was, however, more advanced as it also supported the suspension and the drivetrain. Anecdotally, Lancia and Volvo were the first manufacturers to provide floor attachment points for the seat belt. In 1962, the Flavia Coupé 2+2 appeared, designed by Pininfarina. The first coupes were a bit sluggish but Lancia reacted by adding a 1.8l engine to the catalogue in 1963 which gave the Flavia that extra boost. More of a touring car than a sports car, the Flavia nevertheless distinguished itself in a few sports events. It finished 3rd in the 1964 Rallye dei Fiori with Frescobaldi and Degli Innocenti. René Trautmann also won the Critérium Alpin rally and the Lorraine rally in the same year with a Flavia coupé. In 1969, as the 2.0L engine took its place under the bonnet of the Flavia, its styling was completely revised and modernised for the 1970s. The sedans and coupes were then called Lancia Flavia 2000. The Flavia's career finally came to an end in 1971, just after it lost its "Flavia" moniker and became simply the 2000, with the Gamma taking its place. This Lancia Flavia 2000 has a full history which will be supplied with the car. It is in beautiful condition. Brakes calipers and master cylinder are new as well as the tyres and the battery This is a beautiful Lancia Flavia that we are offering for sale today, a car that has remained in a beautiful original configuration.
