Description

Viennese cabinet circa 1860 of renaissance style decorated with numerous enamel plates painted with neo-classical subjects. (To be restored) The model is exceptionally garnished and offers a rich contrast between the pastel tones of the enamels and the blackened wood. Rosettes and enamelled bronze ornaments in the taste of the 16th century punctuate the work. This piece of furniture comes from a castle in Provine in Wallonia. The family history tells us that the property was occupied by the German army during the Second World War. A soldier would have in anger damaged voluntarily the ornamental plates with his bayonet. There are a total of 108 plaques, 76 of which need to be restored. Some small corner moldings are missing. The detailed photographic record of the damage is available by mail or Whatsapp on request. This furniture is the result of a provincial castle in Wallonia. The family history shows that the work was made during the Second World War by the Dutch legion. There are a total of 108 plates, 76 of which can be stored. Enkele kleine hoeklijsten ontbreken.
