Unidentified photographers. Colonial life in Madagascar, 1898-1906. One hundred and twenty-five (125) period photographs revolving around the school of agriculture and sericulture (silkworm breeding) of Nanisana and the station of Ivoloina. The set is presented in the form of an album bearing 99 photographs and a batch of 36 unclassified photographs. Silver prints of time, approximately 8 x 11 cm for the prints of the album and from 11,3 x 8,1 cm to 12,9 x 18 cm for the not classified prints. Agricultural and Sericulture (silkworm breeding) school in Nanisana, the construction site of the Pangalanes Canal, agricultural competition in Tananarive, veterinarian at work, departure from Tananarive of the mail for France, a Fahavalo (rebel against the French power) at the wall before execution, marching of the assegais by the militiamen, test station at Fort Dauphin, fish merchants, etc. Four photographs bear the wet stamp "Photographie Centrale / Tananarive" on the back. The lot also includes a photograph of Saint-Honoré-les-Bains (France), three photographs in Surinam, one in the Barbados, three in Brazil and two in Trinidad. Most of the prints have captions on the back. Some of them are dated.
