3 L.A.S. "L. Pasteur" and 1 L.A., 1886-1890, to Lucien VIARD, member of the Board of Directors of the Crédit Foncier de France; 2 half-pages in-8, and 2 oblong cards in-12, the last one on the letterhead of the Institute Pasteur. Paris October 26, 1886, about his recommendation "for a position as office boy, of Eugène Loye: "He is my fellow countryman from the Jura region, seems very honest and docile"... Arbois August 17, 1887, he asks for "a printed sheet of the conditions of admission to the offices of Crédit Foncier"... Paris September 18, 1890, recommending a request: "you will give to the Crédit Foncier a precious employee if this petition can succeed promptly"... - Instructions to Viard to distribute "the hundred bonds of Mr. Pasteur: 50 to Mrs. Vallery- Radot mother, 25 to himself, 12 to René Vallery-Radot [his son-in-law], and 13 "to be delivered to Mr. Pasteur 45 rue d'Ulm". Attached is a letter from Dr. Foderé, requesting Pasteur to recommend an application for admission to the examinations of the Crédit Foncier, with an apostille a.s. from Pasteur, requesting Viard to make the necessary arrangements (December 1, 1888); and a P.S. from Pasteur on the letterhead of the Crédit Foncier de France, acknowledging receipt of an envelope (a half page in-8). Attached are two signed autograph cards from Pasteur to Viard on the same subject, an unsigned autograph bill, a signed notice, and a letter (October 6, 1888) bearing a signed apostille from Louis Pasteur dated December 1, 1888. And a visiting card.
