[BERTHIER] PRETI ST AMBROISE Vincent, (1753-1835 ?) Autograph letter signed Vincent Preti St Ambroise to Monseigneur le Maréchal BERTIER (sic) minister and secretary of state in the department of war, Menton 26 Nivôse year 13, two and a half pages in ink on laid paper. This former officer in the Royal Italian Regiment in 1776 and then intendant-orderly of the garrison of Monaco in 1786, begs Berthier to intervene to have him granted a place as commissary of War: "his desire having always been to employ his days in the service of the state and to give new proofs of his zeal, of his fidelity and of his constant attachment to the French government. This desire is all the more lively today that this government is consolidated by the happy advent to the Imperial throne of the august monarch who makes the happiness of the French people".
