Description

Eugène PRINTZ (1879-1948) Sideboard with cut sides decorated with flutes, oak structure and polished palm veneer opening to two leaves consisting of plates decorated by Jean DUNAND (1877-1942) in patinated and oxidized brass and cast silver dinanderie forming a geometrical decoration composed of lines, checkerboards and dots. This decoration is repeated on the side panels. The interior oak compartment is fitted with two mobile shelves on racks. The frame of the piece of furniture rests on a baluster base decorated with scrolls and interlacing in patinated brass and oxidized with a sponge. The whole rests on a base covered with a sheet of brass patinated and oxidized with a sponge, identical to the base. We note at the bottom of the left upright the stamp bearing the monogram EP interlaced, standing wood palm and silver nets corresponding to the stamp of Eugene PRINTZ affixed to the furniture of prestige and order. This piece of furniture results from an order made in June 1934 to the Printz gallery, 81 rue de Miromesnil in Paris, executed by the Printz workshops, 12 rue St Bernard-XIe and delivered on June 24th 1935. Height : 117 cm ; width : 149,5 cm ; depth : 50 cm This piece of furniture is in a very good state of conservation. It has been restored by a professional cabinetmaker in 1996. A certificate of expertise will be given to the buyer as well as the invoice of the Printz house and the one of the refreshment of June 3, 1996.
