First edition, published at author's expense, of this treatise divided into four parts: tea; coffee; chocolate; explanation of the figures, the catalog of curiosities which are the "goods which are currently dispensed by the artists of the royal laboratory of the four nations", the catalog of the books of M. de Blégny and the royal cassolettes invented by the author. Very nicely illustrated with representations of plants and utensils (teapots, coffee pots, cups and reels), this work "is above all an advertising operation" (Livres en bouche). Nicolas de Blégny was ordinary Surgeon of the Queen, then Surgeon of the Duke of Orleans and Doctor of the King. He died in disgrace as a result of fraud. Precious copy, very large margins, and bound with the arms of the regent Philippe II, duke of Orleans (1674-1723). It comes from the libraries of Robert Hoe (IV, 1912, 419), C.L.F. Robinson and Jacques Louis-Delamare. Slight rubbing. Spine slightly tarnished.
