Title, (6) ff., 396 pp. Rare forgery, without the title-frontispiece and the 3 copper engravings outside the text, of the fourth edition published in Paris, Pierre Deshayes, 1653 (380 pp.). Both valet de chambre to the King and horticulturist, the author met a great success from the first publication of this famous work in 1651. The first part, devoted to the cultivation of fruit trees, and the second to vegetable gardens and vegetables, herbs and fruits of the soil, are followed by a real treatise on jam and recipes for dried fruits, jellies, marzipan, macaroons... "Its main originality compared to other jam makers of the seventeenth century lies in the place given to the preservation of fruits without particular preparations" (Livres en bouche).
