This treatise contains XXII chapters divided into numerous articles each devoted to a food, its qualities, its uses: one book concerns bread, the others vegetables, meats, fruits, spices, milk, wine, fish... Exotic dishes are mentioned: snake, camel, lion... This work is a frequent reference in the History of the private life of the French, of Le Grand d'Aussy. Doctor of Lyon, the author was called to the service of François I and then of Henri II. He composed this book in 1530, and the first edition appeared in 1560 (Lyon, Sébatien Honorat).
