BUC'HOZ (Pierre-Joseph). Toilet and laboratory of Flora joined together in favour of the beautiful sex, or Essay on the plants which can be used as ornament with the Ladies, & which are useful in the distillation. Paris, chez l'auteur, 1784. 2 parts in one vol. in-12, half vellum bradel, smooth spine, title in ink on the spine (Modern binding not signed by Dubois d'Enghien). I: (2) ff. 156 pp; II: (2) ff. 157 to 356. New edition of this collection of beauty recipes by plants, in two parts: the first one gives the compositions of various oils and beauty creams; the second one is devoted to the preparations of liqueurs, to the distillation of spirit-of-wine, vinegar..., and proposes a very large number of waters: apricot water, silver water, Artus water, chocolate water, coriander water, strawberry water, bridal water... Buc'hoz (Metz, 1731-1807), originally from Lorraine, was a physician to King Stanislas of Poland, before teaching botany in Nancy. Small handwritten commentary from the period, pasted on the title.
