One of the recommendations for a long life of the Italian hygienist Luigi Cornaro (1467-1566), a descendant of Venetian Doges, is to avoid drunkenness and gluttony; he thus explains the influence of food on the humours. The first edition of this famous work appeared in 1558 in Padua, in-4. Cornaro composed this book at the age of 40, after having ruined his health by abusing pleasures and decided on a strict hygiene: he died a hundred years old. Unidentified armorial bookplate.
