New enlarged edition of this famous English treatise on cooking by Hannah Glasse (1708-1770); first published anonymously in London in 1747, it remained a standard work for a century. This edition is the first in Edinburgh. Divided into XXII chapters, this treatise gives a very complete catalog of English recipes: "rosting, boilling, made disches, soups, puddings, cheesecakes...", and finds its originality in some chapters: chapter III shows how expensive French sauces are, chapter IX gives many recipes for a quick dinner, chapter XI is addressed to ship captains, etc. Folding table with, according to the month, the list of dishes.
