Second edition of this travel guide to Paris; a long passage (pp. 146-170) concerns the food of Parisians; it begins with bread, studies at length mushrooms, and wines from all regions of France, ratafias, coffee, tea, chocolate and waters. Martin Lister (1638-1712) was an English naturalist who published numerous medical articles in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, and who composed reference memoirs on conchyliology. Handwritten bookplate: John Chaytor, 1820. Very worn binding. Some foxing, stains, creased boards (one restored), annotations on endpapers.
