Faux-title, title, vi pp, (1) f. of dedication, 2 etched portraits by Rajon (Dumas and Vuillemot), 1155 pp, 24 pp. (appendices). First edition of this monumental tribute to gastronomy, the last work of Dumas. The novelist was known by his entourage for his gigantic appetite and his real talents as a cook. In addition to the famous dictionary, this book contains the reprint of the gastronomic calendar of Grimod de La Reynière, various menus composed according to the seasons or the number of covers by Dugléré of the Café anglais, Verdier of La Maison dorée, Magny, Vuillemot of La Tête noire, Brébant, La Maison Potel et Chabot, and in the appendices, some advertisements for the Christophle goldsmith's shop, the Franquelin pork-butcher's shop, the Daudens canned food company, etc....; the long study on mustard signed by the novelist makes a nice press for the house Alexandre Bornibus. Edition at 56 numbered copies. Very nice copy, one of the 50 on hollande, n° 16, perfectly bound by Aussourd. Bookplates, not identified : Mala cusina derisa ; and Pro captu lectoris.
