POLITICAL & MILITARY MEN. Set of 8 documents. BARTHOU Louis (1862-1934) 2 autograph letters signed, Paris, March 23 and April 24, 1913. 2 pp. in-8 and in-12. March 23, he explains "But this last moment was decisive; it was necessary either to close or to spend a night which would have been disastrous... I had to close (...)" and April 24, thanks; DESCHANEL Paul (1855-1922) autograph letter signed, August 22, 1918. 2 pp. in-8. He is happy to see his friend recovered; POINCARÉ Raymond (1860-1934) 4 autograph letters signed, July 22, July 26, August 5 and September 23, 1924, 7 pp. in-8. Three letters on the letterhead of the Senate. On July 22, he evokes numbers of a newspaper "The articles are signed Roger des Varennes (name or pseudonym?) and contain the most stupid calumnies on the personalities of the War. (...)" he hopes that his friend can do something and sends him information. On July 26, he talks again about the articles of "(...) Roger des Varennes" and mentions Russian affairs. On August 5, he sends him two brochures. On September 23, thanks; WEYGAND Maxime (1867-1965) autograph letter signed (s.l.) August 1, 1947, 1p. in-8. He is happy to know his friend "(...) delivered from all these worries, so little deserved (...)". An interesting autograph letter signed by Jeanne DOUMERGUE, Tournefeuille, March 3, 1942. 2 pp. in-8. She sends a "(...) little box that I would have liked to give to the Minister himself; he would have been embarrassed by it and I am sending it to you (...)" she hopes to see the Minister in Tournefeuille and evokes memories "(...) I evoke in writing to you Rome and this party where I met you at the time when Italy had not yet been drawn against us (...)".
