[HUGO Victor]. DROUET Juliette (1806-1883).

Autograph letter signed "Juliette" to Victor Hugo, (s.l.) February 12 [1849]. 4pp. in-8. Mark of the collector Henri Ledoux. Lovely love letter with a few points of erotic humor. "Good morning, my sweet little man, good morning, good morning with the sun and love, good morning. It is likely that you are still buried in your sheets and under your blankets but I will know how to find you if you want to let me touch your modesty as a representative and ex peer of France. I was astonished yesterday at the ease with which you consented to sacrifice your evening for a gueulardise at the risk of boring yourself like a spectator on the island of tohu-bohu. This proved to me that you belonged to you a little more than I thought and that it was only enough to pay you meat to have your favors, so I will provide you with meat and fresh pulpits even if you use them. Since you are not ashamed to put into action on yourself and by yourself this infamous motto: Exploitation of man by man... for man. I ask to be your accomplice. I will buy you all your evenings at the rate of one Tragaldabesque bastardy for each. I will ruin myself but I don't care. Besides, a little sooner a little later, I'd rather have it right now. In all I like the violent and expeditious kind. Short and sweet that's how I like to live. Now that I know your price, I will not deprive myself of it since my means allow it. I won't even ask you to deliver below the price. On the contrary, I want everything up and nothing down." This letter does not appear in the correspondence of the Letters of Juliette Drouet to Victor Hugo, digital Publications of the CÉRÉdI (University of Rouen-Normandy).
