PAGNOL Marcel (1895-1974).

Fragment of Merlusse's dialogue, partly autograph, with autograph annotations on the typed portion (n.l.d.). 1 p. large folio and an autograph introduction for Merlusse, (s.l.n.d.) 1 p. in-4. Fragment with some tears at the upper and lower margins. The dialogue fragment corresponds to pages 122 to 124 (Merlusse, Presses Pocket, 1977). The page is a good example of Marcel Pagnol's writing work. The beginning of the page is a typed text, corrected in blue pen. Glued just below, a sheet of a school notebook with three autograph replicas (one in pen and two in ink), and finally, glued afterwards, the bottom of a typed page bearing a tiny correction in blue ink. The action described in our fragment, takes place in the dormitory of the high school shortly after the Christmas Eve; autograph introduction in which he explains Merlusse is drawn from a tale that I had published, about 1920 in the magazine Fortunio (...) It is the first work that I wrote for the screen, and its text had the honor to appear in America in a classic edition, annotated and commented by Lucius Gaston Moffat (...)".
