Bio of John Crash Matos - 1961 : He started Graffiti at a very young age on New York trains before practicing on canvas. He joined the Sidney Janis Gallery in 1983 before entering the world's largest collections from the MOMA in New York to the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. He appeared to the general public by co-producing with Keith Haring the advertising campaign, Peter Stuyvesant. He became known in France by participating in the exhibition 5/5 Figuration Libre, France-USA at the Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1984. This exhibition compared the work of artists such as Basquiat, Boisrond, Combas, Keith Harring, Tseng Kwong Chi, Di Rosa... and John Matos Crash. In 1996, he painted five Eric Clapton Stratocaster guitars, one of which went for $321,100. In July 2006, he exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum. In 2007, Secret Story used one of his pieces to create the Eye of the Franchise. Since 2010 he exhibits every year in France, especially in Paris. He exhibits every 2 years in Montpellier at the At Down gallery for a solo show.
