Ancient region of Bactria, c. 1000 BC. Of various sizes and materials such as glass, ceramic, and hardstones, all carved in the round with almond eyes set beneath arching brows, some with small ears, others with headdresses. Every piece with a drilling.

Condition: Good condition commensurate with age, with some encrustations.
Provenance: Ex-collection of the imperial family of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, last Shah of Iran (a letter of provenance signed by Dr. Zelnik will be handed out to the winning bidder upon request).
The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
