The Grand Prix de France was then the most important racing event at international level. He reached the finish line almost 9 minutes before his main rival, Victor Hémery, driving a Benz. Otto Salzer, driving a Mercedes, led the fastest lap at an average speed of 126.5 km/h. The three 1908 Mercedes Grand Prix race cars produced (N°35, N°19, N°2) have been destroyed, so to this day there is no perfectly authentic Grand Prix model of this era.
