Amsterdam : Johannes Janssonius, 1628. - In-24, dark brown morocco, boards decorated in the center with two vertical rows of gilt rosettes and fleurons, framed with a roulette of gilt circles and rhombuses between two double fillets and gilt dotted lines, smooth spine decorated with an ornate frame as on the boards, gilt edges (period binding). Rare small edition of the works of the Latin poet Martial, published by the Dutch historian and philologist Petrus Scriverius (1576-1660). It is illustrated with a beautiful engraved title. A very fine copy in a nicely decorated contemporary binding. A very well preserved copy despite a small crack at one hinge.
