Paris : Michel Lévy frères, 1850. - In-8, dark green half-chagrin, spine decorated with cold filets, speckled edges (period binding). First edition of this dramatic poem performed for the first time on the stage of the Porte Saint-Martin theater on April 6, 1850, followed by speeches of the author delivered at various times on the emancipation of slaves . Copy enriched with an autograph letter signed by Lamartine, 1 page in-8, October 28, 1840, addressed to M. Buloz, director of the "Revue des Deux Mondes". He would like a moment of discussion about his tragedy. A good copy. Some foxing.
