Uncommon romantic edition of Félicité de La Mennais' translation. It is illustrated with 5 hors texte compositions engraved on copper from drawings by Devéria. One of the copies on large vellum paper, including the figures before the letter on chine glued. Rare contemporary binding signed by the Parisian bookbinder Joublin who practiced from the 1820s until at least 1849. Spine faded, some minor wear and tear, corners slightly dulled. Some foxing. Provenance: Marquis Guillaume de Lespine, with bookplate.
