First edition of one of the most important novels of Émile Zola (1840-1902), ninth opus of the Rougon-Macquart series. The text was first published in serial form in the magazine Le Voltaire from October 16, 1879 to February 5, 1880. 325 copies printed on Hollande paper . A good copy in Blanchetière binding. Spine very slightly faded. Restorations, soiling and foxing to the cover. Scattered foxing in the volume, mainly affecting the edges.
